‘Vault into Christmas’ competition
We are holding our annual 2-piece and recreational competition on Sunday 22nd November. Entries will open on 1st October and close 31st October and will be on Thrive. We are finalizing the routines and the children will start working on them after assessment week. This is a fun floor and vault competition with lots of rewards and medals. We hope as many of our gymnasts as possible will be able to take part. Please let us know if you can help out decorating the gym or on the day in the kitchen.
Award Scheme Assessment Week
We are going to have our award scheme assessment week w/b 21st September. For all recreational gymnasts who attend that week, we will assess them to see if they are ready to move onto the next level. If they are, you will receive an email to purchase the certificate and medal. If they are not yet ready, you will be able to login to Thrive to see what they still need to complete. We will not assess the new school starters just yet as they will be settling into their new classes. If your child is in a squad, you can ask their coach to confirm what they are working on if it’s not our award scheme.
20th anniversary party
We have booked our 20th anniversary party on 15th November at The Village Hotel, Warrington. The event will take place at 5pm and will include a DJ and finger buffet. Tickets will be on sale in the next few weeks and we will email members with a link. We hope as many current and past members as possible can make it to celebrate 20 years of Penketh Gymnastics Club!
Christmas dates
Our last class before Christmas will be Saturday 19th December and first class back 4th January. We will let you know nearer to the time if there are any holiday clubs or extra training available over the holidays.
Parking
Please make sure you are using our parking spaces when dropping off or picking up your child. We have had reports of people parking at the side of the gym, which is an access route for all units on the estate. You also need to make sure you use the one-way system (so exiting past the unit next door and round the back).
New equipment
We received our new foam pit last week. The children that have used it so far have thoroughly enjoyed it. We were able to buy it due to the money raised in the cartwheel challenge. Thank you to everyone who came or sponsored the gymnasts!
Front door
Please make sure the front door closes properly behind you and you aren’t letting in anyone you don’t know. It is designed to keep the children safe in our classes but we are increasingly seeing people leave the door wide open or let people in. Please help us keep the gym secure.
Squad competitions
We have a few external competitions in September and October. The first is the NW Tin and Zinc 12+ competition on 12th/13th September. The second is the Liverpool Open on 18th, 19th and 20th September. Good luck to gymnasts taking part and thank you to the judges and parent volunteers who are helping.
